With the warmer weather all sorts of dangerous creatures are out and about. We have had several of our patients have close encounters with snakes.
Bean (pictured) decided to take on a Yellow Faced Whip snake and was bitten by the snake around the face/eye area and you can see her eye is a bit swollen.Yellow Faced Whip snakes are mildly venomous and generally cause pain and swelling and sometimes more severe symptoms. Bean stayed with us on fluids just to make sure there were no adverse reactions.
If you think your pet has been bitten by a snake, it is vital that you seek treatment as quickly as possible. The sooner they are treated, the better their chances of survival.
